12237 mechanical Transport Driver (Dvr) Charles Ernest Armstrong was a motor driver from Prahran, Victoria prior to enlistment.

Dvr Armstrong embarked with 1st Reinforcements, 3rd Divisional Supply Column from Melbourne on HMAT Persic on 3 June 1916.

He later served in France with the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Sub Park before rejoining his original unit. He returned to Australia on 18 July 1919.
