'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He carried out his duties with great courage and coolness during an action, attending to the wounded and carrying them to safety under heavy machine gun fire.'

Military Cross

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the skilful handling of his gun teams, and successfully repelling two enemy counter attacks, which were vigourously launched, whilst one new line was in process of consolidation. It was due to his prompt action and coolness that the position was maintained at a very critical time.'

LOVE.—On February 19, at a hospital, Adelaide, Rev. James Robert Beattie Love, M.C., D.C.M., M.A., beloved husband of Blanche Margaret Love, of Blakiston, and loving father of Robert, Margaret, John and Joseph. Aged 67 years.

LOVE. —The friends of the late Rev. James Robert Beattie Love. M.C., D.C.M., M.A., of Blakiston, formerly of Ernabella Mission Station, are respect fully Informed that his funeral will leave Scots Church, North terrace, on Thurs day, after a service commencing at  2.15 p.m. for the Centennial Park Cemetery, arriving at 3 p.m.
