His brothers, 852 Pte Lancelot Herbert and 4129 Pte Edward Raymond Ansell also enlisted in WW1.
Married Kelsey Heritage on 15 January 1921.
Children to the marriage were Maureen Mavis born on 3 March 1921 and Maxwell Morton born on 25 September 1923.
