Charles Reginald BICKFORD was born in Clifton Hill, Victoria in 1894
His parents were Stephen Sawle BICKFORD & Caroline DIMOND
He enlisted in Perth, WA on 7th September, 1916 & rose through the ranks from Private to Lieutenant - embarked from Sydney on 22nd March, 1918 on the HMAT Runic with the Engineering Field Company, General Reinforcements - he was also with the 4th Australian Divisional Engineers & the 13th Field Company Engineers
Charles returned to Australia on 5th December, 1919 on the ship Konigin Luise - date of discharge unknown
He married Kathleen May JONES in Western Australia in 1920
He died on 31st May, 1984 in Gerringong, NSW
