Embarked as part of a general reinforcement draft, although later described as the 11th Reinforcements for the Camel Corps..
After disembarkation was assigned to 'Isolation Camp' pre hospitalisation at 14th Australian General Hospital in Moascar, Egypt.
Poste to the 3rd Battalion Imperial Camel Corps on 3 Sep 17.
Hospitalised again in Nov 1917 diagnosis 'myalgia'. He remained there until 21 December 1917 when he was 'Returned to Unit' - the 3rd Battalion Imperial Camel Corps.
In mid 1918 the Camel Corps was re-organised as the war moved from the Sinai (where camels were suited) to Palestine (where they were not) and John Prendergast was transferred to the 15th Light Horse Regiment.
He was hospitalised again in August after an accidental injury suffering severe bruising to his leg.
His records indicate that in October he sustained an accidental gunshot wound presumably that did not penetrate his leg.
Commenced return to Australia on 24 July 1919 aboard HT Dongola disembarking on the 28 August 1919
