The Sandow Family Remembers
Richard married in Queensland just prior to embarking for Viet Nam with 5 RAR.
Three months before they were due to leave Viet Nam for Australia following their tour of duty, Richards child was born. A baby girl named Debbie, unfortunately they were never to meet thanks to the explosion in the Long Hais in SVN.
In recent years our family have caught up Debbie who is now more than twice the age that of her father.
Richard has been granted the Broken Hill ANZAC Day football medal thanks to the Broken Hill members of the RSL and in particular veteran Jack Morris who never forgot Richard or our family.
The Broken Hill RSL allowed the family to place Richards story within their memorabilia room.
