Francis Miller Anderson was born on the 3rd of July 1896 in Norwood, South Australia to his parents William ANDERSON and Julia Caroline nee SCHRAEDER. Anderson lived on 102 Angas St, Norwood, South Australia. His hometown was Adelaide, South Australia.
Francis Miller Anderson worked as a Billiard Marker/Club Steward when he was first enlisted to the armed services on the 13th of December 1915, at Keswick, South Australia. Anderson was first embarked on the 9th of March from Adelaide ranked as a private and was involved with the 27th Infantry Battalion. He was only 19 years old. Francis Miller Anderson served in Egypt, France and Belgium, though on the 10th of October 1916 in Belgium, he was wounded in action. Anderson had his right leg amputated and returned to Australia on the 3rd of July 1917 to Karoola in Tasmania. He was then discharged on the 26th of September in 1917.
On the date of the 22nd of November in 1917, Francis Miller Anderson passed away from Uraemia - a condition that occurs when the kidneys no longer filter. He passed away in his hometown of Adelaide, South Australia and was aged only 21. Anderson’s grave is in the cemetery of West Terrace Cemetery Road 2, Path 20 W 6, and he is acknowledged in the Adelaide HB02 Scots Church 2 WW 1, Australian War Memorial, Roll of Honour.
