After the War
Henry Frederick Howard PRATT was always referred to as Fred. He emigrated from England prior to 1916 and was working as a farm hand at Yarraby, Swan Hill, Victoria when he signed his attestation papers on 23 Feb 1916.
He left for overseas on 4 Apr 1916 on HMAT Euripides, from Melbourne, Australia.
He returned to Melbourne and was discharged on 23 Jul 1919.
On 18 May 1922 Fred married Bertha Pomeroy in the Church of England, Daylesford, Victoria. The built and run the general store post office at Korweinguboora, Victoria until they were in their 60s after which the retired to live at Daylesford, Victoria.
There was one child to the marriage, Dorothy May PRATT.
Bertha died on 26 Jul 1968 and is buried at Daylesford Cemetery.
Fred died on 08 Jun 1973 and is buried with his wife Bertha at Daylesford Cemetery.
Fred was proud of his war service but like most returned soldiers never spoke about it. He attended several Anzac Day Marches in Melbourne.
