Born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Moved to Renmark with Sister Mrs Clara Miller.
Married Isabella Anderson under care of Mrs Clara Miller (sister.) Had three children: 1 – William Lowden Anderson, 2 – Margaret Anderson and 3 – Lilian Anderson.
Enlisted but declined due to teeth on 4th October 1916. Enlisted again 19th January 1917.
Embarked 10th reinforcements - 50th Battalion on 4th August 1917 at Melbourne on HMAT Themistocles (A32.)
Disembarked on 2nd October 1917 at Glasgow. Marched into 13th Training Battalion on 3rd October 1917 at Codford.
Proceeded to France 23rd January 1918. Joined 50th Battalion in the field on 26th January 1918.
Killed in Action 25th April (ANZAC Day) 1918 near Villers-Bretonneux during the counterattack which re-captured the town from the Germans and halted their advance on Amiens.
His body was recovered and buried at Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, but later lost,
He was thus provided a special memorial. His headstone and several others records the fact that he was 50 years of age at the time of his death.
His wife, Isabella Anderson died 1919 – 1920.
