Son of James Urquhart and Ellen Marie Urquhart of Moonan Brook, Scone, NSW.
28 August 1914 - enlisted at Randwick, NSW, with the 2nd Battalion and with the rank of Private.
11 August 1915 - wounded in action. Wound to the abdomen
20 October 1915 - commenced return to Australia from Suez aboard HS Kanowna disembarking on 22 November 1915 as wounded
26 June 1916 - discharged at the 2nd Military District as medically unfit
