REV. WILLIAM HOWES, C.S.S.R.
(The first Queenslander admitted to the Redemptorist Order.)
The Rev. William Howes, C.SS.R., who was ordained priest in the Redemptorist Monastery. Clonard, Belfast, Ireland, by Bishop Henry on the 11th September last, and who is expected shortly to take up missionary work in Australia, is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Howes, of New Farm, Brisbane. He received his early education at St. Patrick's School, Fortitude Valley, and subsequently at the Christian Brothers' College, Nudgee. About seven years ago he entered the Redemptorist Monastery at Waratah (N.S.W.), and after a novitiate of twelve months he left for Ireland, where he completed his ecclesiastical studies. He is the first, and so the only, Queenslander to join the Redemptorist Order.
