His death in WW2
Arthur Guy Allen was living in PNG at the outbreak of WW2. He was working as a Copra merchant and living on Mioko Island in East New Britain. He was captured by the Japanese, and was being sent to Japan on the POW ship Montevideo Maru when the ship was sunk by an American submarine, Sturgeon. He was one of 1054 prisoners and one of the 209 civilian prisoners who were killed.
