Michael's parents were Timothy Delehanty and Hanoria. The Daily Standard which was a local Brisbane newspaper reports that Michael James Delehanty was a farmer and living at Samsonvale when he enlisted on 12 February 1917 at Brisbane. His Aunt and Uncle James Calder and Bridget Delehanty were longtime residents of Maryborough, Queensland. He was discharged 29 September 1919 and not long after this he returned to New Zealand where he passed away at Wellington in 1981.
