Son of Frances Ash, of Lake Boga, Victoria, Australia, and the late William Ash.
4th Light Horse Regiment
Taken on strength, 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, Moascar, 12 August 1916.
Found guilty, 16 September 1916, of conduct to the prejudice of good order and committing a nuisance, 15 September 1916: awarded 3 days’ confined to barracks.
Marched out to 4th Light Horse Regiment, 11 September 1916 .
Taken on strength, 4th Light Horse Regiment, Abou Hammad, 12 October 1916.
Detached to 4th Light Horse Training Regiment, Ferry Post, 25 February 1917; marched into 4th Light Horse Training Regiment, 25 February 1917; rejoined 4th Light Horse Regiment, 8 March 1917.
Admitted to 4th Light Horse Field Ambulance, Tel-el-fara, 26 September 1917 (malaria); transferred to Troop Ship, 26 September 1917; to Rest Camp, 28 September 1917; discharged to duty, 13 October 1917; rejoined unit, Tel-el-fara, 13 October 1917.
