Rudolph Askwith ADELT was born in Melbourne on 10th May, 1894
His parents were James Louis ADELT & Elizabeth Ellen TRUE who married in England on 21st September, 1887
He married Winifred Mary BATES in Sydney in 1920 - she died in 1938 and his 2nd marriage was in 1938 to Rene Anne EDWARDS
Rudolph died in Chatswood, Sydney on 31st December, 1960 and was cremated at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium in North Ryde

Details of his service during WW1 and WW2
WW1 - Service No. 1633- he enlisted in Sydney on 2nd October, 1915 and embarked the same day on the HMAT Moldavia with the 12th Light Horse Regiment, 6th reinforcements - he returned to Australia on 1st August, 1919 and was discharged on 23rd October, 1919
He spent 4 years in active service in the 1st AIF and 3 years as a signaller handling heliograph & semaphone and all classes of morse code transmission. He was an Orderly Room Sergeant for 1 year and had 8 years military training prior to enlisting in WW1

WW2 - Service No. 266835- he enlisted in the RAAF on 14th September, 1942 with an honorary commission and was discharged on 3rd January, 1946 - his last rank was Flying Officer with the Air Training Corps (AFC)

Two of his brothers also served during WW1
1. Carl True ADELT (SN 554) 1st Light Horse Regiment - he died of wounds on 16th May, 1915
2. Louis Burton ADELT (SN 6311) 1st Field Company Engineers - returned to Australia 20th January 1917
