Allan Stuart MacPHERSON was born in Brisbane, Queensland on 25th April, 1893

His parents were John MacPHERSON & Helen Fyfe LOVE who married in Queensland on 6th April, 1889

He maried Helen Beatrice OSBORNE in Sydney in 1924

WW1 details

Allan enlisted on 20th October, 1915 and embarked as a Lieutenant with the 5th Field Artillery Brigade, 15th Battery from Sydney on the HMAT Persic on 18th November, 1915

He was promoted to Lieutenant on 1st March, 1916 and to Captain on 1st September, 1917 and also held the rank of Major (date unknown) He served with the 3rd, 5th & 15th Field Artillery

He returned to Australia on 15th May, 1919 and was discharged on 29th August, 1919

HONOURS & AWARDS

He was awarded the Military Cross on 8th November, 1917

"For conspicuous gallantry & devotion to duty.  An enemy shell ignited an ammunition dump.  He at once jumpped into the pit and with his hands pulled out the burning cartridges, threw earth on the fire and succeeded in extinguishing it, this averting a serious catastrophie"

He was also mentioned in dispatches on 11th July, 1919 (see links)

WW2 details

Allan enlisted in Denman, NSW on 14th August, 1942 - he was a Private with the 6th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps (Part time duty) and was discharged on 17th September, 1945

Alan died in Hospital on 4th March, 1961 late of Colomendy Homestead, Armidale, NSW (registered in Armidale) & was cremated in Northern Suburbs Crematorium

His son John Stuart MacPHERSON (SN 439480) served in the Royal Australian Air Force during WW2 and lost his life on 6th October, 1944 in a Flying Battle
