Biography
"...3127 Private Claude Leslie Berriman, 50th Battalion from Gawler, South Australia. A 28 year old carpenter prior to enlisting on 4 October 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 8th Reinforcements of the 50th Battalion from Adelaide on 16 December 1916 aboard HMAT Berrima. Following further training in England, he arrived in France and joined the 50th Battalion on 15 July 1917. Three months later, he was killed in action on 15 October 1917 and buried in the Military Cemetery at Broodseinde, Belgium. After the war his grave could not be located and he is now commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium with others who have no known grave." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
