Neville Brett’s mother died in 1899 when he was 9 years of age and his father died five years later. He was an old boy of the Ballarat Orphanage, and attended Ballarat College later.
His brother 1342 Cecil Ernest Wilford Brett 2nd Field Artillery Brigade was sent home after Gallipoli suffering from pleurisy, and died in the Austin Hospital during 1919 from tuberculosis.
Another brother Charles Walter Wilford Brett served with the 60th Battalion and returned to Australia during 1919.
