JAMES KERLE BURNETY
James enlisted on 6 November 1916 at Normanton, with the 2nd Light Horse Regiment (23rd Reinforcement.
He was described as being 33 years old (34 on embarkation), single, station manager of Normanton, Queensland, 5 feet 7¼ inches tall, blue eyes, light brown hair. He gave his sister, Ellen Shannon, ‘Tomire,’ Brookes Street, Bowen Hills, Brisbane as his next of kin.
His unit embarked Melbourne per A2 HMAT Boorara on 10 May 1917 for Suez. James returned to Australia per HT Dunluce Castle on 17 July 1919 suffering from Malaria. He was discharged from the AIF on 30 September 1919.
