Ernest Edward James Limbert
I was recently contacted by a lady, Barbara Brain. This lady made an extraordinary effort to find some one researching the Limbert name from Naracoorte, South Australia. Barbara and her husband had a Second Hand furniture shop and twenty years ago noticed a shoe box of memorabilia in a drawer of a dressing table. Her find sat in her cupboard until March 2017.
The Box consisted of Ernest Limbert's war diary, Maps of France and letters home to his wife to be, Edith Limbert and many friends.
I made contact with Barbara and thank her for her effort. I have been able to share information and show the shoebox of information with my cousins.
There were a few photos of other soldiers with a name on the back of the photograph. One was Rupert Percy Lewis, and I have been able to contact his son and give him his photo. Rupert and Edward were neighbours in Fairfax Street, Unley.
I will make sure the contents of the shoe box will remain intact and in the family.
I have made contact with RSL who have photographed contents and are now listed on the RSL Virtual War Memorial Web Site. Thank you dear Barbara for your effort. Wendy Cussans.
