Add my storyBiography contributed by Karan CAMPBELL-DAVIS
Although recorded as a jeweller's assistant at the time he enlisted in 1915 (his father Leo was a jeweller, according to the Electoral Roll of 1930), Lionel Hartley BIBBY went on to become an internationally renowned firearms expert and marksman, from the 1930s onwards. He was a crack shot with a revolver, rifle and shotgun, and he designed the first Australian made repeating rifle, in 1947.
There are 433 newspaper articles on 'Trove' about Lionel, mostly about his incredible marksmanship. His son, Jim, went on to become almost as famous as his dad for his marksmanship, but tragically predeceased his father, aged just 28.
