Thomas Sidney Milham was the son of Thomas William Leaf Milham and Alice Milham of Abbortsford Victoria. His father passed away in 1914.
Thomas’s brother, 4473 John Richard Milham 21st Battalion died of tuberculosis on 7 June 1917. He contracted the illness when serving in France during 1916 and was at first evacuated to England, before being returned to Australia.
Thomas was originally listed as missing in action at Fromelles on 19 July 1916, along with hundreds of the 59th Battalion. His death was later confirmed on that date. In his service file it is noted that he was "Killed about 300 yards to the right of VC sap".
His mother Alice received his personal effects, medals, was beneficiary of his will and was awarded a pension of 2 pounds per fortnight.
