Son of Edward John Armfield of Byron Bay, NSW; brother of William Henry Armfield who was killed in action on 5 April 1918 while serving with the 49 Battalion
He was a member of the Manchester Unity Independant Odrder of Oddfellows in the Goulburn District
27 March 1916 - to hospital with Mumps
