His twin brother 1441 Private John Henry 'Jack' Waller, 8th Battalion AIF was killed in action at Gallipoli 27 April 1915. An older brother, 1004 George Richard Waller 1st Pioneer Battalion AIF was sent home medically unfit in 1917. He was discharged on medical grounds, at his own request, in August 1917, despite being advised that he needed further medical treatment. George Waller died of unknown causes in Sydney in May 1920.
