Charles was born in Sydney where he grew into a young man. At age 14 1909 he was taken to China by his Father where he remained with his granparents. He was not happy in China and wrote many times to his Mother to return to Australia without success.He finally returned in 1911 then enlisted 7 years later. He was married to Maude until his passing
