Son of Samuel Skimmings and Mary Skimmings of Dunoon, NSW. Brother of Clifford M. Skimmings, Ruby Skimmings, Samuel P. Skimmings, Mary Skimmings, David W. Skimmings, Charles Andrew Skimmings who returned to Australia in November 1917 having served with the 30th Battalion, Ellen P. Skimmings and Sarah M. Skimmings
Commenced return to Australia on 22 September 1919 aboard HT Port Sydney disembarking on 13 November 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
