Distinguished Conduct Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 29 September, 1918, near Quennemont Farm, he took charge of a section forward with a battalion, and got them into action under heavy artillery and machine gun fire, engaging parties of the enemy and preventing them from bringing light machine guns into action against our infantry. Throughout he displayed great skill and leadership.'
