Enlisted 6 June 1915, sailed 10 days later for Gallipoli. Just over 2 months from joining up in Australia to getting blown up at Anzac Cove.
Joined 4th Bn, Gallipoli, 4 August 1915.
Wounded in action, 19 August 1915 (bomb wound, right ankle), admitted to hospital, Egypt 24 August 1915; transferred to England, 15 September 1915, and admitted to 5th London General Hospital, St Thomas's, 24 September 1915.
Returned to Australia from Portland (amputated leg; prothesis fitted), 8 May 1916.
