Arthur Jack Addison was born in 1888, at Balmain, New South Wales. He was the son of William West and Christian Mary Addison.

Addison attended Leichhardt Public School during his primary years and had a listed address of 13 Hathern-Street, Leichhardt Sydney. On leaving school, Addison went on to work as a brass finisher before enlisting with the AIF.

Addison enlisted on the 19th of February, 1915 at the age of 26. He was assigned to the 18th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on 25th June, 1915 on the HMAT Ceramic A40.

Following basic training, Addison was sent to Gallipoli.

AIF records state that Addison was popular in his battalion.

Addison was reported killed in action in a charge near Hill 60 in the Gallipoli campaign by Private J. Lockard. The date of death was reported in AIF dispatches as “about Aug. 20th 1915”.
