Son of Henry Jacob and Alice Maude CATON, 'Midlands' Llewellyn Street, Marrickville, NSW
Lieutenant Caton gained his certificate as Pilot at the Point Cook Aviation Schol and had his first fight in the 'air stunt' against the German invaders of England. Later in France, he was wounded by hostile aeroplanes on 7 September 1917, but retained his nerve, and landed safely to the aerodrome. He was invalided to Wandsworth and Cobham Hall Hospitals and returned to Sydney 28 May 1918. For many months he was an outdoor patient of Randwick Military Hospital.
