Charles Bowyer Berry was a lover of horses and lived all his life in Port Pirie working as a labourer on the wharf after serving in World War 1 in the Light Horse as No. 1 in the 43rd Battalion. After fighting in a number of war areas he was wounded but returned home safely to Port Pirie.
