Charles Richard Stalley was born on 28 July 1894, in Peterhead, South Australia, Australia. His father, Thomas Wagar Stalley, was 31 and his mother, Edith Laura Lafrentz, was 28. He married Adelaide Annie Jane Stutley on 20 April 1916, in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 2 daughters. Before heading to war he was a builder. During World War I he embarked on 12 August 1916, he was a Private in the 32nd battalion.
He arrived in England in September 1916 and spent the next year in training camps. Here he was diagnosed as unfit due to heart disease and in January 1918 he was put on a boat back to Australia.
He enlisted again in World War II as a Corporal on the 27 September 1939 until he was finally discharged on the 2 December 1941, serving in the 4th Garrison Battalion. After all the wars he fought in he managed to live until 65 until his untimely death on the 15 August 1959 in Springbank, South Australia, Australia.
