Son of William Henry March and Phoebe Ann FOWLER
ON ACTIVE SERVICE.
Bombardier SYDNEY FRED FOWLER, who was killed in action in France on March 31, was the third son of the late Mr. W. H. M. and Mrs. P. A. Fowler, of Angas-street. He attended the Flinders-street, Sturt-street, and Adelaide High Schools, and spent three years at Prince Alfred College. He then joined the Irrigation Department as a survey cadet, but was only employed in this capacity a few months before enlisting at the age of 18. He left Australia as a signaller, in the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, but was transferred to the Divisional Artillery Column. About six months prior to his death he was again transferred to the 41st Battery of the 11th Australian Field Artillery Brigade. He was greatly loved, because of his cheerful disposition and his generous actions.
