Add my storyBiography
It has been recounted that this soldier's surname was Bastard, but that he sometimes referred to himself as Robert Stanley. He enlisted as R S Bastard and was posted to the 10th Infantry Battalion with Service Number 11 and originally served in E Company. He served on the Gallipoli Peninsula until he was evacuated ill and was admitted to hospitals in Mudros, Heliopolis and Suez with Debility. The record shows him returning to Australia in October 1915 and being discharged as medically unfit in March 1916. Correspondence indicates that he was approved to take up a position with Vickers Ltd in Sheffield, England as a Munitions Worker.
