Brother 2534 Pte. John Albert Barker, 35th Bn. Australian Inf. killed in action 7th June, 1917.
Father: 1477 Pte James BARKER, 34th Battalion, killed in action, 20 July 1917.
Thomas Barker was wounded in action at Gallipoli 4th May 1915, (gun shot wound to the face and jaw)
The Medical Board who examined him in Australia after his return in October 1915, stated that he still suffered from the scar of the entry wound, which had passed across his jaw, knocking out teeth, fracturing his jaw and that the bullet was still lodged in his head. He still had difficulty eating and was recommended for discharge as medically unfit.
