Distinguished Conduct Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He established and maintained telephone communication during an action under heavy shell fire, showing great fearlessness throughout'.

Military Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry in action during the 2nd Battle of GAZA on 19th April 1917 in laying and maintaining telephone communication with the Regiment holding BAIKET EL SANA. This N.C.O. laid this line under heavy shell fire while the enemy were searching the Western slope of BAIKET EL KSANA for led horses, and during the day repaired the line which had been broken by direct hits in several places, under heavy enemy shell fire.'
