Son of Thomas and Charity Jose ANDREWS, husband of Elizabeth ANDREWS, of 52 Seymour Road, Elsternwick, Victoria. Born at Fitzroy, Victoria.
Burial Report regarding the Late 2049 Saddler Corporal Andrews
'Deceased was buried with full Military honours the coffin draped with the Australian flag being conveyed to the graveside on a Gun-carriage preceded by a Firing Party from No. 4 Australian Command Depot Hurdcott. Six of the deceased's late Unit comrades supported the Pall.
"The Last Post" was sounded and volleys fired over the grave. A number of Australians followed the remains and were present at the graveside ceremony.
Headquarters A.I.F. Depots in United Kingdom were represented at the funeral.'
The Officiating Clergyman was Chaplain H. S. Parsons (Pres) Y.M.C.A. Hurdcott Wiltshire

Died on this date - 2nd February........John Edwin Andrews was born at Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria in 1890. He enlisted in Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 1st October, 1914 as a 24 year old Saddler & Toolmaker. He had previously served with the Royal Navy.
John Edwin Andrews re-enlisted on 15th February, 1915. He joined 2nd Field Ambulance at Gallipoli on 28th July, 1915. He was invalided to Egypt from Malta on 18th August, 1915 with a scalded leg. Private Andrews reported for duty at Anzac on 3rd November, 1915. He disembarked at Alexandria on 3rd December, 1915 & eventually arrived in France on 30th June, 1916.
Appointed as Saddler Corporal on 7th September, 1916.
Saddler Corporal Andrews disembarked at Southampton, England from France on 3rd January, 1919 & to report to Hurdcott, Wiltshire (No. 4 Command Depot) as part of 1915 Personnel – ready for return to Australia. He was admitted to No. 2 Group Hospital at Hurdcott, Wiltshire on 26th January, 1919 with Influenza (Bronchitis) then was transferred & admitted to Military Hospital, Fovant, Wiltshire on 28th January, 1919 suffering from Influenza & Broncho Pneumonia.
Corporal Saddler John Edwin Andrews died at 17.00 hrs on 2nd February, 1919 at Military Hospital, Fovant, Wiltshire, England from Influenza & Broncho Pneumonia.
