Malcolm Howard Roberts was almost 25 years of age when he first enlisted in World War l. He came from his hometown in Balaklava, South Australia to join the 10th Battalion. Malcolm enlisted on 26th of August 1914. Unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board Transport A11 Ascanius on 20 October 1914 and returned to Australia 8 November 1918.
Malcolm landed at Gallipoli with the 10th Battalion on the first day. He was wounded in the leg in July and evacuated to England. When he recovered, he returned to France with the 3rd Brigade HQ, but was often again sick in hospital. When the battle was over he returned to Balaklava South Australia and was married shortly after, to Miss Gertrude M. Roberts.
Malcolm survived the war and returned home and died on the 22nd of October 1949. He was survived by Gertrude and six children.
