From Steve Smith (2ndCousin 2X Removed)
After the war, Victor Tolland became a bank accountant for Commonwealth Bank in Geelong. He suffered from shell shock and was transferred to the Collins Street Commonwealth Bank shortly before his death. According to some newspaper articles he had a nervous breakdown and was hospitalised. On the day after he came back from leave he walked down to the vault, had a brief chat to the guards, picked up a handgun and shot himself in the head. He was declared dead at the scene.
