Charles Pryor Bennet was born in 1891 at Eaglehawk Victoria. He grew up with knowing only of the Church of England. His childhood was spent in Lane Street, off Bromide Street, Broken Hill, New South Wales. Charles was occupied as a labourer before applying for military service. After marrying his wife Caroline, the couple lived on 302 Waymouth Street, Adelaide, along with their two children.
Charles was enlisted to military service on the 21st of June, 1915 at Keswick South Australia. He joined the unit the of 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 11th reinforcement. Bennet left for Egypt on 22nd of December. This is where the soldier was killed in action, leaving his widowed wife and two children behind.
Charles Pryor Bennet was killed in action. His body was buried in the cemetery in the Jerusalem Memorial. Charles was awarded the British War medal and the Victory Medal. His name is carved with all the other Anzacs in remembrance for serving our and country and for loyalty. Charles' name can be found at the Australian War Memorial, panel 3 of the honour roll.

"THE LATE PRIVATE C. P. BENNETT.
Mrs. Caroline Bennett, of 302, Waymouth-street, has open notified that her husband, Private C. P. Bennett, was killed in action in Egypt on January 9, 1917. Private Bennett left for Egypt on December 22, 1915. He was 26 years of age, and besides the widow two children are left." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 03 Feb 1917 (nla.gov.au)
