WAR CASUALTIES.
Information was received by
Mr. Robert Mackrell, of Kelvin View, last Friday that his son, Private Thomas Mackrell (a letter from whom appeared in last issue of the "Advertiser,") had been killed in action in France on July 29th last. The news of Private Mackrell's death was conveyed directly to his parents, for some reason, and not through the medium of the clergyman, as the usual custom is with the Defence department. Private Mackrell, who was a native of the district, was much liked by his friends, and fellows, and general regret was expressed at the news of his death. Deep sympathy is expressed for the parents and family of the fallen soldier. Mr. and Mrs. Mackrell have two other sons on active service.
