This casualty is believed to be Donald or Douglas Anderson, born as James Dickson, the illegitimate son to Helen Dickson, but known as ‘Douglas Anderson’. Obituary : Douglas Anderson - Australian Infantry, AIF [MIDLOTHIAN JOURNAL 13 September 1918]: The sad news arrived on Thursday morning that private Douglas Anderson, Australian Expeditionary Force, had died from wounds. He was a son of Mr and Mrs David Anderson, Meville Place, and emigrated a few years ago to Australia. His wife, Isabella B. Mason, a daughter of the late Mr John Mason, resided in Roslin.  He is remembered on the web site, Midlothian Remembered and on the Roslin War Memorial which is situated in a green area by the side of the main road through the town. A restrained Celtic Cross with a wreath on the pedestal.
