12 Oct 1917: Honoured Military Medal, 1st Passchendaele, This N.C.O. was controlling the Traffic on the BELLEWAARDE Plank Road. On the day in question the road was bocked by a shell crater - in consequence a great deal of through traffic for WESTHOEK was held up. This N.C.O. at once to the assistance of the engineering party and through his energy, coolness, and example materially assisted in clearing the road. Throughout the time the road was being heavily shelled. (See also memo from C.R.O. 1st ANZAC Corps Troops).
