Next of kin given as his uncle F.A. Vernon of Queen Elizabeth Walk, London, England.

David had previously been a member of the 6th City of London Rifled for four years.

Later changed to his wife Beatrice Vernon nee Rayne of Stoke Golding, Leicestershire, England. David and Beatrice were married on 10 June 1918 in a Parish Church Leicestershire. Vicar G. M. Edmonds officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 25 September 1919 aboard HT Mahana disembarking on 10 November 1919
