George Austin MORSCHEL was born in 1891 in Berry, New South Wales

His parents were George Paul MORSCHEL (known as John) and Frances WILLIAMS who married in 1888 in Nowra, NSW

He had previously served for 2 years in the Senior Cadets before he enlisted in Sydney on 31st January, 1916 as a Driver in the Army Service Corp.

George was hospitalised several times during his service due to illness and died on 25th January, 1917 at the Sydney Hall Military Hospital , Weymouth UK due to tubercle in his lung - he is buried in Melcombe Regis Cemetery in Dorset

He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal
