Christopher-Augustine Boylan was born in Colton, South Australia, and grew up in Talia, Elliston, SA in a family of 8. He attended Cudlee Public school with his siblings. Before he joined the army, he worked as a colt breaker. He enlisted for the army on 9th May 1916. Aged 23, Boylan embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A70 Ballarat on 12 August 1916. During battle on the 16th of February 1917, he received a wound from a gunshot on his left arm. This caused him to be returned to Australia for medical discharge. He later died on the 24th of May 1951.
