Cuthbert Harrison COBB was born in Ararat, Victoria in 1870

His parents were John Frederick COBB & Mary Ann Elizabeth KING - they had 11 known children

Boer War details

He first enlisted to serve in the Boer War and served 15 months with the 6th Western Australia Mounted Infantry Contingent - his occupation before enlistment was a Fireman - he embarked on 10th April, 1901 on the ship Ulstermore

They returned on 29th April, 1902 on the ship Columbian

WW1 details

He enlisted in Geraldton, Western Australia on 26th July, 1916 with the Australian Army Medical Corps and embarked from Fremantle, WA on the HMAT Berrima on 23rd December, 1916 with the 51st Infantry Battalion, 8th reinforcements - he returned to Australia and was discharged on 4th March, 1920

In 1921 he went to Maria Island as a Medical Orderly with the National Portland Cement Company - he was also the Postmaster at Maria Island for 20 years

Cuthbert died at Maria Island in Tasmania on 7th July, 1950 and is buried in the St Marys Anglican Church in Triabunna, Tasmania
