Thomas Allen enlisted in Emmaville NSW. Missing at Pozieres during the 25th Battalion's attack there and had no known grave. His remains were found near Contalmaison in 1921 and he was buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery. His father was sent his identity disc which was recovered. The parents had to endure a terrible mix up in identity with another Allen in Queensland, meaning they were not informed of his death and resulted in much confusing correspondence. His brother 1591 James Allen enlisted in the 6th Light Horse and later transferred to the Artillery.
