Claude is remembered in an extract from a poem by his comrade Sidney J Goss.

‘A friend to all! His merry voice was one we all could love, his upright walk made us rejoice; oft were his thoughts above.’ We, his family never forget.

 

He is commemorated on the grave of his mother at Ardleigh Cemetery.

Also served 4 years with the Essex Imperial Yeomanry, Territorial Force, England

Son of Walter and Sarah Ann Abbott, of The Hollies, Ardleigh, Colchester, England. Brother of Lt Alfred Edward Abbott DCM, served with the British Army; Clifford Charles Abbott, served 2.6 years in the Motor Transport Section, British Army, Mesopotamia.
