Alf Schou ESKILDSEN was born in Ronne, Bornholm,  Denmark on 31st October, 1878

His parents were Christian Johannes Theodor Schou ESKILDSEN & August Dorothea Wilhelmine MOHRING also known as Minna Dorothea who married on 31st Deember, 1877 in Kobenhaun in Denmark

Alf had a daughter Sarah born on 20th June 1906 in Mile End (Old Town) to a Leah ISAACS she was living in London at the time he enlisted in Australia to serve during WW1 - they were not married

He had previously served in the Danish Navy & the American Navy according to the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour Circular

Alf died of ptomaine poisoning on 24th October, 1918 and is buried in Plymouth Cemetery (Efford) in Devon

He used the alias Alf EDWARDS
